Technology and safety

Glass fabric made from shells with enhanced safety

  • The particularly good properties of glass fabric as a reinforcement are top of the agenda again: now also improved as capsheet
  • Technical achievement of the glass fabric industry:
New hardening binder made from the natural raw material chitin, equipped with modified warp thread
  • Perfectly meets the BÖRNER European patent EP 0634515 for fire-retarding features of polymer bitumen membranes

Proven – improved – safe

The behavior of bitumen waterproofing with a blue test liquid was simulated in a demonstration test. The even colouring of the glass fibre is the result of an optimal impregnation process. For the bitumen membrane industry this means that the critical usage of glass fibre as reinforcement for top membranes results in advantages for processors and users alike.

Favourable development

The following properties ensure that the glass fibre made from shells is made to a high value raw material/component for bitumen and polymer bitumen membranes:

• Tensile strength
• Nail pull-out strength
• Accuracy
• Dimensional stability
• Behaviour when processing
